On the Ground Opportunities
Serve Directly in the Community
Our on-the-ground volunteers play a vital role in supporting low-income families, storm-affected communities, displaced households, and the youth we serve. These opportunities are ideal for volunteers in Jamaica or those visiting during key program periods.
Examples of On-the-Ground Roles:
Relief Distribution & Community Support
Help deliver essential items to families and individuals impacted by natural disasters or economic hardship. In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, we have seen firsthand how quickly families can lose access to basic necessities. During these moments, our on-the-ground volunteers will help us respond swiftly, ensuring those in need receive essential support.
Activities may include:
- Sorting and packaging relief supplies
- Distributing food, water, hygiene items, and emergency essentials
- Assisting with verification and intake at distribution sites
- Supporting logistics and community outreach during recovery efforts
Food Drives and Wellness Support
Work with us to strengthen food security and wellness in vulnerable communities.
Activities may include:
- Organizing and staffing food drives
- Preparing care packages for seniors, children, and struggling families
- Supporting wellness days or community health pop-ups
- Helping coordinate partnerships with local clinics, schools, and churches
Youth Mentorship & Educational Support
Serve students affected by educational disruption, limited resources, or unstable home environments.
Activities may include:
- Leading empowerment sessions for youth
- Supporting reading circles, homework labs, or enrichment activities
- Helping with career days, workshops, or academic preparation
- Assisting with intake and coordination for our youth development programs
Community Beautification & Upliftment Initiatives
Help restore and uplift shared community spaces in areas impacted by storms or long-term deterioration.
Activities may include:
- School or park clean-ups
- Planting, minor repairs, and beautification
- Organizing donation drives for school supplies or community resources
Event Support & Logistics Assistance
Our events bring people together, strengthen community connections, and help raise resources for our programs. Whether held in Jamaica or the U.S., volunteers play a key role in making these gatherings meaningful and successful.
Event support volunteers ensure that every event, large or small, runs smoothly and reflects the spirit of service and unity that defines The Westmorelite Foundation.
Photography and Video Coverage
Help Us Capture Moments That Matter
High-quality photos and videos help us share our mission, highlight community impact, and inspire continued support. If you have an eye for storytelling, this volunteer role is meaningful and deeply impactful.
Examples of Photography/Video Roles:
- Capturing on-site volunteer activities and community programs
- Photographing distribution events, youth workshops, or food drives
- Recording short video clips for social media, donor updates, or highlight reels
- Documenting interviews or testimonials from community members
Remote Opportunities
Make a Difference From Anywhere
You don’t have to be in Jamaica to support our mission. Remote volunteers help strengthen our programs, expand our reach, and uplift the communities we serve.
Our biggest need is for virtual mentors: professionals willing to guide students, young adults, and emerging entrepreneurs. Whether it’s sharing career advice, reviewing resumes, offering business insights, or providing encouragement, your experience can change the trajectory of someone’s life.
We also welcome volunteers who can assist with outreach and communication, helping us stay connected with partners, supporters, and the wider diaspora community. This may include simple follow-ups, coordinating volunteer information, or helping spread awareness about upcoming initiatives.
